How to Spend Your 10 Weeks before Fascists take charge of the US Gov’t
We can’t be perfectly ready, but we can be much more prepared by then than we are now
First, let’s briefly talk about what we shouldn’t be doing. We shouldn’t be castigating people online because we disagree with their takes on the election. We shouldn’t be actively seeking to utilize the state apparatus to make people’s lives worse, regardless of if they or their loved ones voted or expressed themselves in ways we find horrible.
Also, we shouldn’t be spending time in, or spreading, blind panic. It doesn't help in theaters on fire or ships that are sinking, and it doesn’t help here either. Feel your feels, talk to your people, but collect yourself and don’t disorient others.
Cool, now that that’s out of the way, let’s move on to what we should be doing. Let’s start in the immediate term, and move to the longer term.
Keep Your Friends
First, talk to friends. Manage your emotions, and help them manage theirs. It may not seem like a huge help, but it is. Our relationships are ultimately all we have in this life, and they are also the source of all political power.
